Mission

We are seeking a Grade Checker to play a vital role in our construction project’s field operations, specifically verifying that project lines and grades adhere to project specifications using advanced surveying tools and systems. This position ensures accurate implementation of the planned line, grade, and elevations throughout the construction process; as well as ensuring as-built measurements are documented on completed construction and quantity computations are timely and accurate. We are currently seeking a skilled Grade Checker to join our outstanding team in Prince of Wales, AK, USA.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate surveying systems including Trimble GPS and total stations to accurately determine and verify the grade of construction sites.
  • Analyze site measurements against project plans and specifications. Provide real-time feedback and guidance to earthmoving equipment operators to adjust grade as necessary.
  • Work closely with project managers, and construction teams to ensure grading activities are aligned with project goals. Communicate optimally any changes or adjustments that need to be made on-site.
  • Supervise all grading tasks in keeping with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Ensure that all grading work meets the detailed specifications of the project.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all stake out, measurements, adjustments, and other relevant activities to ensure traceability and compliance with project documentation requirements.
  • Compute volume and area quantity measurements as required by the contract for payment including 3d measurements and cross sections.
  • Quickly identify and resolve any discrepancies between the graded site and the project plans, initiating corrective measures in a timely manner to avoid delays in project timelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specifications, and internal and external policies, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Competency in site calibrations, staking, measurements, and quantity computations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Grade Checker.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and a Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
  • Ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Ability to walk, bend and stoop up to 10 hours a day.
