The Prince of Wales Vocational & Technical Education Center (VOCTEC) is hosting the summer youth program known as Alaskan Youth Stewards (AYS), locally known as Training Rural Alaskan Youth Leaders & Students (TRAYLS). Youth crew members 15-19 years of age should apply, and 15 is the minimum age. Crew members will serve under a Crew Leader and will work remotely in the field most days Monday-Friday, 7.5-8.0 hrs./day. Contact Bob Girt (Sealaska) or Kris Kain (VOCTEC) via email at:
b[email protected] (or) [email protected]
(907) 617-5886 (or) (907) 401-1456
An application can be requested via either method above.
This is a youth training program primarily to develop field skills and be exposed to opportunities that exist for future career paths, particularly those that relate to natural resources (land, water, air).
Although not a requirement, preference is for students still in a local POW Island High School, Educational Program, or a recent HS graduate. No previous experience necessary.
As a seasonal position, no particular benefits are included. However, Independence Day (July 4, 2022) may be a paid holiday, but will depend on VOCTEC policy for seasonal employees?
