This position is responsible for participating as a team member implementing customer service plans with children, adults or seniors. Work is primarily within one program, but may include work with Children’s Mental Health or Senior and Developmental Disability Services. Services may include teaching skills, providing guidance and structure, personal care, household chores, transportation, and providing respite for the primary caregiver. Customers served include children and adults experiencing intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities or severe emotional disturbances, and seniors experiencing a level of a disability that causes them to be at risk of having to be institutionalized. Services occur in the home, community, employment and school environments.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENST/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is community, home and school based and requires the candidate to have a reliable vehicle to be able to transport customers and travel between work locations. Being able to lift 50 lbs and the ability to provide personal care assistance with toileting, showering and dressing may be required depending on the needs of individual customers. The work schedule may require flexibility with days and hours worked based on customer needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a human service position with youth and adults experiencing disabilities, severe emotional disturbances, and seniors.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Must possess and maintain a valid Alaska driver license and vehicle liability insurance. Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under agency guidelines and state regulations.
