On Prince of Wales Island, runners of all ages hit the roads throughout the year. No matter the conditions - rain, wind, sun or snow - you can see people out and about living the old adage "There's no bad weather... just bad gear!" and embracing a "No Excuses" attitude. Whether we're training for events or just running to maintain our health and wellness, we rarely miss a day to hit the road and work on beating our personal records.

The Prince of Wales Runner's Club hosts monthly running events which bring community members from across the island together to run, walk and have fun. Each event has a theme and run locations rotate between communities. The most recent event, the annual Zombie run, was held in Craig... October is frequently chilly and rainy, but runners this year were lucky to have a clear and beautiful day.
The POW Island Half and Full Marathon held every Memorial Day weekend draws runners from around the world. In 2020, the event will be held on Saturday May 23rd. If you're looking for a fun destination run, consider signing up for this year's run by visiting their website. Every year the planning committee invites a guest speaker to the island, and we are excited to welcome Andrea Peet to our island! She has an inspirational story which will resonate with everyone who gets the opportunity to meet her and hear her speak at the weekend's events.
The run schedule for 2020 is as follows:
These monthly events keep locals on the move throughout the year. To check out more events coming up in the next year, check out our events calendar.
